FIRST READING - Is 30:19-21, 23-26
"He will be most gracious to you when you cry out; as soon as he hears he will answer you."
A reading from the Book of Isaiah
19 Yes, people of Zion, dwelling in Jerusalem,
you shall no longer weep;
He will be most gracious to you when you cry out;
as soon as he hears he will answer you.
20 The Lord will give you bread in adversity
and water in affliction.
No longer will your Teacher[a] hide himself,
but with your own eyes you shall see your Teacher,
21 And your ears shall hear a word behind you:
“This is the way; walk in it,”
when you would turn to the right or the left.
23 He will give rain for the seed
you sow in the ground,
And the bread that the soil produces
will be rich and abundant.
On that day your cattle will graze
in broad meadows;
24 The oxen and the donkeys that till the ground
will eat silage tossed to them
with shovel and pitchfork.
25 Upon every high mountain and lofty hill
there will be streams of running water.
On the day of the great slaughter,
when the towers fall,
26 The light of the moon will be like the light of the sun,
and the light of the sun will be seven times greater,
like the light of seven days,
On the day the Lord binds up the wounds of his people
and heals the bruises left by his blows.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Mt 9:35-10:1, 5a, 6-8
"At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity."
✠From the Gospel according to Matthew
35 [a]Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness. 36 At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned,[b] like sheep without a shepherd. 37 [c]Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; 38 so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.”
1 [d]Then he summoned his twelve disciples[e] and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out and to cure every disease and every illness. 5 Jesus sent out these twelve[a] after instructing them thus, “Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town. 6 Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8 [a]Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.

SATURDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT - (Mt 9:35–10:1. 5a. 6-8)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
In today’s Word of God, God the Father speaks to all humanity.
Follow the example of Jesus Christ, listen to the Word He imparts, for Jesus Christ is the Only Son of God the Father.
He is the most perfect example in this world, and that example is love.
His love encompasses all things, and the Kingdom of Heaven will also be for all those who always know how to live in love and possess compassion.
God the Father calls upon all His children to place love above all things. For only love brings happiness and peace to humanity.
God the Father also calls upon all His children to set out and go to their brothers and sisters, following the example of Jesus Christ, which is to bring the love and mercy of God the Father to all humanity, so that this world may be filled with love and the light of God the Father's grace.
God the Father wants humanity to know that this world is only a temporary dwelling, not the place that brings eternal life to the human soul.
Therefore, God the Father desires everyone to be vigilant so as always to live according to the calling He has imparted, practicing the life of the Kingdom of Heaven right here in this world.
That is living in love, just as God the Father instructed humanity to place love above all laws, just as Jesus Christ placed love above all things.
It was because of love that He obeyed God the Father and came to this world to sacrifice Himself and die to redeem humanity's sins so that people might enjoy the happiness of the Kingdom of Heaven.
God the Father instructs His children that when they follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, they must also renounce all that belongs to the world, all the worldly gains of this earth in order to receive the graces He will bestow. And from there they will go everywhere to proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven, heal the sick and disabled, and cast out demons.
All those who yearn for and are faithful to God the Father, He will grant grace and always be by their side to accompany them.
And those people will become the instruments that God the Father uses so that His grace, love, and mercy may reside in all souls who are modest, humble, loving and forgiving, who know how to receive the Word of God the Father and put it into practice.
That is the way God the Father instructs His children as well as all those who courageously commit themselves to follow the calling He has chosen and the mission He has entrusted.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
