FIRST READING - Jon 3:1-10


"When God saw by their actions how they turned from their evil way, he repented of the evil he had threatened to do to them; he did not carry it out."


A reading from the Book of Jonah


The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time: Set out for the great city of Nineveh, and announce to it the message that I will tell you. So Jonah set out for Nineveh, in accord with the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an awesomely great city; it took three days to walk through it. Jonah began his journey through the city, and when he had gone only a single day’s walk announcing, “Forty days more and Nineveh shall be overthrown,” the people of Nineveh believed God; they proclaimed a fast and all of them, great and small,[a] put on sackcloth.

When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. Then he had this proclaimed throughout Nineveh:[b] “By decree of the king and his nobles, no man or beast, no cattle or sheep, shall taste anything; they shall not eat, nor shall they drink water. Man and beast alike must be covered with sackcloth and call loudly to God; they all must turn from their evil way and from the violence of their hands. [c]Who knows? God may again repent and turn from his blazing wrath, so that we will not perish.” 10 When God saw by their actions how they turned from their evil way, he repented of the evil he had threatened to do to them; he did not carry it out.



GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Lk 1:26-38


"You will conceive in your womb and bear a son."


From the Gospel according to Luke


26 In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And coming to her, he said, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” 29 But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,[a] and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, 33 and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” 34 But Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?”[b] 35 And the angel said to her in reply, “The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. 36 And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived[c] a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; 37 for nothing will be impossible for God.” 38 Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.

THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE


Dear people of God,



Today, the whole Church, together with the Hosts of Heaven, celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.


Today's Word of God speaks of the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, beginning with the moment when God sent the angel Gabriel to announce to her that she would conceive and give birth to the Son of God through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the one who always pleases God.

She was born like any other human being. From all eternity, God has chosen her among all people to become the Mother of the Savior. God has always granted humanity free will, the freedom to obey His will or follow the world's ways according to human reasoning.


The Blessed Mother Mary, too, was given this same freedom by God, just as Eve once was. But Mary was a wise woman, who chose to obey God through her “yes” when she said to the angel Gabriel: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord, may it be done to me according to your word”. This is an absolute “yes” from Mary to God. She completely believed, trusted, and relied on the power of God, and dedicated her entire life to God.

She cooperated in God’s plan of salvation and fulfilled the mission that God gave to her, which was to conceive and give birth to the Savior, the Son of God.

God appointed her as the Mother of humanity. She has always accompanied humanity from ancient times until today.

In particular, Mother Mary always accompanies and is with people in the Rosary when people recite the Hail Mary:


“Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you, blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen”.


God said the Hail Mary is the prayer in which the Blessed Mother Mary is always with humanity, to dispel and drive Satan out of people; it is a prayer that has the power to conquer all sins, to conquer all of Satan's imprisonment of souls. When someone calls upon the holy name of the Blessed Mother Mary and praises her through the Hail Mary, she will come to be beside and accompany that person.


Today, the Church joins the Hosts of Heaven in celebrating the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. God wants to tell humanity that in ancient history, through the Rosary, people sang to praise God and Blessed Mother Mary, who defeated Satan to bring peace and happiness to humanity.


The Hail Mary through the Rosary that Blessed Mother Mary gave to all humanity is a sharp weapon, with the power to drive Satan out of humanity.

Because the Blessed Mother is full of grace, God gives her the full power and strength of the Holy Spirit, and God chooses her to participate in His plan of salvation; therefore, whoever is wise enough to run to her, to take up the weapon of the Rosary, she will come to accompany, drive away, and defeat Satan who is imprisoning that person's soul and body.


Today's Word of God calls on all humanity with the following commands:


  • Run to the Blessed Mother Mary, the Immaculate Conception, the Mother of God, the Blessed Virgin Mother, the Mother who was assumed into heaven in both body and soul, and the Mother of all humanity.


Through the privileges that God has given her, she will bestow blessings and accompany humanity when they know how to say the Hail Mary to praise God and praise her.


  • Come to pray to Our Lady of the Rosary, she will bestow abundant graces, and accompany and be with anyone who earnestly prays to her with a sincere heart.


Mary is filled with God's grace, and through her intercession and the Rosary, she will earnestly plead with God for all humanity.


Looking back at the history of the Church, past and present, Blessed Mother Mary has always accompanied the Church; she has always supported and accompanied people when they encounter difficulties and challenges.

Therefore, everyone should come to pray to her: "Please come and accompany us in all places and at all times." Especially in today's world, Satan is raging and imprisoning many people.


Therefore, "Please accompany, protect, and preserve us from Satan, who is attacking and stealing the souls of each of us."


In addition, for God to answer everyone's prayers to Blessed Mother Mary and her intercession, He calls everyone to learn from Blessed Mother Mary's example of "yes", to do everything according to God's will, and especially to ask to become humble, become little, and lowly before God, following the example of Blessed Mother Mary of the Rosary.
