“The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you, and still more will be given to you.” (Mk 4:24)

FIRST READING - 2 Sm 7:18-19, 24-29

"Who am I, Lord God, and what is my house, that you should have brought me so far?"

A reading from the Letter of Samuel

18 Then King David went in and sat in the Lord’s presence and said, “Who am I, Lord God, and what is my house, that you should have brought me so far? 19 And yet even this is too little in your sight, Lord God! For you have made a promise regarding your servant’s house reaching into the future, and giving guidance to the people, Lord God!

24 You have established for yourself your people Israel as your people forever, and you, Lord, have become their God. 25 Now, Lord God, confirm the promise that you have spoken concerning your servant and his house forever. Bring about what you have promised 26 so that your name may be forever great. People will say: ‘The Lord of hosts is God over Israel,’ when the house of your servant David is established in your presence. 27 Because you, Lord of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed to your servant, ‘I will build you a house,’ your servant now finds the courage to make this prayer before you. 28 Since you, Lord God, are truly God and your words are truth and you have made this generous promise to your servant, 29 do, then, bless the house of your servant, that it may be in your presence forever—since you, Lord God, have promised, and by your blessing the house of your servant shall be blessed forever.”

GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Mk 4:21-25

"The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you."

From the Gospel according to Mark

21 He said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be placed under a bushel basket or under a bed, and not to be placed on a lampstand? 22 For there is nothing hidden except to be made visible; nothing is secret except to come to light. 23 Anyone who has ears to hear ought to hear.” 24 He also told them, “Take care what you hear. The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you, and still more will be given to you. 25 To the one who has, more will be given; from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”

Thursday of the Third Week in Ordinary Time Gospel (Mark 4:21-25)

THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

Dear people of God,

In today's Word of God, God the Father warns people in the world today that God with the infinitely supreme power sees everything in humanity and all the activities of this world, and that He sees all the wicked acts of Satan that control those who disobey the holy will of God the Father.

He uses the example of lighting a lamp and states that there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and that nothing that humans do that He does not know.

People must fear God because He can bring eternal life, and He can bring souls into hell, into eternal death.

God the Father wants to warn people that they must learn to fear God, to recognize their sin and fear sin, fear eternal death, fear the captivity of Satan, and to submit and return to God, doing everything He desires, living truthfully according to who they truly are.

Stop being deceitful, stop hating, stop dividing, stop killing, stop envying, stop competing. For He sees human actions, even when they are still in thought, so stop hiding from God the Father, stop living hypocritically toward God the Father, toward others, and toward yourselves. Live truthfully as a holy person, as a loving person with simplicity, gentleness, and humility.

Do good and holy deeds so that God the Father may reward you in the Kingdom of Heaven. Eliminate wicked acts and replace them with a gentle life, knowing how to love, to fear, and to be faithful to God the Father. Stop disobeying His holy will, which leads to living in suffering, hatred, and the darkness of Satan.

God the Father wants people to understand that He is the One who sees through everything, from thoughts, words to actions or deeds of humans. Therefore, do what is pleasing to God the Father so as not to fear and tremble before the judgment seat, before the court of the supreme God the Father on the final day.

God the Father calls upon all humanity to turn toward God, to care for the blessings of the Kingdom of Heaven, to care whether their soul will enter hell or find happiness in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Therefore, prepare your soul and body right here in this world, focus on doing good and virtuous deeds, focus on doing work of light and walking in His grace, walking the path of truth that comes from God the Father.

Stop living in deceit, in darkness, in sin. Let the light and grace of God the Father be lifted high, manifested upon your very soul and body through acts of love, fear, and obedience, through gentleness, humility, simplicity, and forgiveness.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
