“He had cured many and, as a result, those who had diseases were pressing upon him to touch him.” (Mk 7:10)

FIRST READING - Heb 7:25—8:6

A reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Hebrews

Jesus is always able to save those who approach God through him,

since he lives forever to make intercession for them.

It was fitting that we should have such a high priest:

holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners,

higher than the heavens.

He has no need, as did the high priests,

to offer sacrifice day after day,

first for his own sins and then for those of the people;

he did that once for all when he offered himself.

For the law appoints men subject to weakness to be high priests,

but the word of the oath, which was taken after the law,

appoints a son, who has been made perfect forever.

The main point of what has been said is this:

we have such a high priest,

who has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne

of the Majesty in heaven, a minister of the sanctuary

and of the true tabernacle that the Lord, not man, set up.

Now every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices;

thus the necessity for this one also to have something to offer.

If then he were on earth, he would not be a priest,

since there are those who offer gifts according to the law.

They worship in a copy and shadow of the heavenly sanctuary,

as Moses was warned when he was about to erect the tabernacle.

For God says, “See that you make everything

according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

Now he has obtained so much more excellent a ministry

as he is mediator of a better covenant,

enacted on better promises.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Mk 3:7-12

From the Gospel according to Mark

Jesus withdrew toward the sea with his disciples.

A large number of people followed from Galilee and from Judea.

Hearing what he was doing,

a large number of people came to him also from Jerusalem,

from Idumea, from beyond the Jordan,

and from the neighborhood of Tyre and Sidon.

He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd,

so that they would not crush him.

He had cured many and, as a result, those who had diseases

were pressing upon him to touch him.

And whenever unclean spirits saw him they would fall down before him

and shout, “You are the Son of God.”

He warned them sternly not to make him known.

THURSDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Mk 3:7-12)

THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

Dear People of God,

Today's Word of God, God demonstrates His authority to all humanity about God's power and strength.

God is the One with absolute and unparalleled power. He heals all diseases and ailments in this world. He drives Satan out of humanity. Wherever He goes they must submit to Him.

He is the One who brings eternal life to humanity.

Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God the Father, has manifested all his fame upon humanity and has spread to all humanity.

In today's world, God the Father calls all His children to believe in the absolute power of God the Father, because only He can bring eternal life to humanity.

Only He can heal all diseases and infirmities in both the body and soul. Only He has power over Satan who is raging over humankind.

Therefore, children of God, we must courageously stand up, abandon the path of darkness, and enter God the Father's path of light, which is His very Word.

The Word came through Jesus Christ incarnate as a human being. The Word has taught us for more than two thousand years. The Word brings eternal life to humankind.

Everyone must be alert to the temptations and schemes of Satan, because Satan brings eternal death, but God does the opposite, because He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He will give eternal life to humanity in His Kingdom.

Contemplate Jesus Christ through His actions, He heals all diseases and infirmities and drives out Satan. With just one word from Him, Satan must submit to Him, so what are we humans?

Therefore, we must be humble, self-abasement, and return to God. He will heal all diseases and ailments as Jesus Christ said: whoever calls on His holy name, He will look with mercy and grant salvation. He will be with us when we invite Him into our hearts.

Through today's Gospel, God the Father calls on all His children to follow the example of Jesus Christ. He who obeyed God the Father in all places and at all times.

His love and mercy are infinite.

We should treat our fellow human beings as God has treated us with mercy.

Let us become children of God, fear Him above all things, and follow His example by sacrifice, renouncing, loving, and serving God the Father and others selflessly.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
