“Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” (Mk 6:31)
FIRST READING - 13:15-17, 20-21
A reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Hebrews
Brothers and sisters:
Through Jesus, let us continually offer God a sacrifice of praise,
that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have;
God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind.
Obey your leaders and defer to them,
for they keep watch over you and will have to give an account,
that they may fulfill their task with joy and not with sorrow,
for that would be of no advantage to you.
May the God of peace, who brought up from the dead
the great shepherd of the sheep
by the Blood of the eternal covenant,
furnish you with all that is good, that you may do his will.
May he carry out in you what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ,
to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Mark 6:30-34
From the Gospel according to Mark
The Apostles gathered together with Jesus
and reported all they had done and taught.
He said to them,
"Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while."
People were coming and going in great numbers,
and they had no opportunity even to eat.
So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place.
People saw them leaving and many came to know about it.
They hastened there on foot from all the towns
and arrived at the place before them.
When Jesus disembarked and saw the vast crowd,
his heart was moved with pity for them,
for they were like sheep without a shepherd;
and he began to teach them many things.

SATURDAY OF THE FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Mark 6:30-34)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
The Word of God in today's Gospel says that when Jesus was with His disciples, He saw the vast crowd like sheep without a shepherd, and He had compassion on them.
God showed His disciples that after doing anything, take time to rest with God to ask Him for more strength, to ask Him for support, to ask Him to teach us what we are lacking and have not been able to do.
God also emphasized to humanity that if He does not give grace, then we would not be able to do anything for Him by our own strength. Therefore, He calls on everyone to be humble and self-abasement before God the Father and our brothers and sisters.
God the Father gave the mission to the disciples to go out and preach the Good News of the Kingdom of Heaven, to call people to repentance, to cast out demons, and to heal the sick and sinners.
If those who go out do not follow what God the Father instructs, Satan will not be afraid nor submit to us.
As a result, we will not be able to help our brothers and sisters.
After each time we go out to do work for God the Father, we must find every way to run to God, stay with Him, and be alone with Him so that He can strengthen us, give us teachings and advice, and allow us to be still beside Him to listen to His Word and be determined to put it into practice.
God also shows all mankind how deep and vast His mercy is when He sees the flock of sheep wandering helplessly without a shepherd.
The flock represents God's abandoned children who are gradually tempted by Satan to fall into their hands.
Because of God's boundless heart, He shows mercy to the flock that is wandering, helpless, and suffering immensely.
He felt compassion for sinful souls—the souls that are gradually moving away from God and falling into the hands of Satan.
Only God the Father knows all the thoughts, words, and actions of mankind, and He is the One who sees how much humanity needs His love and mercy.
Through this, God the Father wants to call on everyone in today's world:
-Each person must have a truly loving heart, always knowing how to have compassion for our brothers and sisters.
Be sensitive to the difficulties and sufferings of our fellow human beings.
Open our hearts and sacrifice ourselves to love, support, share, and lead our brothers and sisters back to God the Father.
-Have a heart that truly loves, a heart that knows how to sympathize, and a heart that forgives, to sympathize with the weaknesses of our brothers and sisters, with the suffering of our fellow human beings who are controlled by Satan, who are writhing in the terrible torments brought by Satan.
-God the Father calls His apostles in a special way: to sacrifice ourselves and go out to help our brothers and sisters escape from Satan's captivity and to bring the Word of God to all humanity.
In the new era, the Realistic Word and the Eternal Word are one.
The call to all of humanity: Humans must have mercy on all creatures, as God has shown mercy on us.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
