A reading from the Book of Isaiah
Is 49:1-6
Hear me, O islands,
listen, O distant peoples.
The LORD called me from birth,
from my mother's womb he gave me my name.
He made of me a sharp-edged sword
and concealed me in the shadow of his arm.
He made me a polished arrow,
in his quiver he hid me.
You are my servant, he said to me,
Israel, through whom I show my glory.
Though I thought I had toiled in vain,
and for nothing, uselessly, spent my strength,
Yet my reward is with the LORD,
my recompense is with my God.
For now the LORD has spoken
who formed me as his servant from the womb,
That Jacob may be brought back to him
and Israel gathered to him;
And I am made glorious in the sight of the LORD,
and my God is now my strength!
It is too little, he says, for you to be my servant,
to raise up the tribes of Jacob,
and restore the survivors of Israel;
I will make you a light to the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to John
Jn 13:21-33, 36-38
Reclining at table with his disciples, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified,
"Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me."
The disciples looked at one another, at a loss as to whom he meant.
One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved,
was reclining at Jesus' side.
So Simon Peter nodded to him to find out whom he meant.
He leaned back against Jesus' chest and said to him,
"Master, who is it?"
Jesus answered,
"It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it."
So he dipped the morsel and took it and handed it to Judas,
son of Simon the Iscariot.
After Judas took the morsel, Satan entered him.
So Jesus said to him, "What you are going to do, do quickly."
Now none of those reclining at table realized why he said this to him.
Some thought that since Judas kept the money bag, Jesus had told him,
"Buy what we need for the feast,"
or to give something to the poor.
So Judas took the morsel and left at once. And it was night.
When he had left, Jesus said,
"Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself,
and he will glorify him at once.
My children, I will be with you only a little while longer.
You will look for me, and as I told the Jews,
'Where I go you cannot come,' so now I say it to you."
Simon Peter said to him, "Master, where are you going?"
Jesus answered him,
"Where I am going, you cannot follow me now,
though you will follow later."
Peter said to him,
"Master, why can I not follow you now?
I will lay down my life for you."
Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me?
Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow
before you deny me three times.
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear people of God,
God's Word today, God the Father let all humanity know that, He is a God full of mercy and infinite compassion. His gentleness and humility are expressed through the image of God's only Son coming to earth to become human, to love and free humanity from death and from the captivity of Satan. That is the image of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ obeyed the Will of God the Father, giving up all glory and honor, to submit to the command of God the Father, to love and save all humanity.
But today, people must look back at themselves, look at how they act and how they treat God the Father and God the Father's only Son.
He loved and created humans, allowing humans to live on earth in this universe. Yet humans oppose God the Father, disobeying His Will.
Just like the image of how people in the past treated God and how they acted with His only Son? So are people today, they have lived in sin, in disobedience to the Will of God the Father. They are no worse than the people of ancient times who slandered, condemned, and sought to kill Jesus Christ. It is sin that is brought into the human body that makes them arrogant, go against the Will of God the Father and follow the temptations of Satan. Those same actions are also condemning the murder of God the Father's only Son, Jesus Christ.
People should wake up to Satan's temptations, stop disobeying God the Father's Will, do not follow the sinful paths of worldly passions, do not live in debauchery, do not live in sin, do not hold grudges, do not live in hatred, in jealousy, in selfishness, in the depravity of the world, in Satan's passion of lust.
God the Father calls people to avoid occasions of sins, abandon the path of sin and return to God the Father, obey and follow what His word teaches through the 10 Commandments, through the 8 beatitudes, through the words of Jesus Christ: repent of your sins, because the Kingdom of Heaven is near.
God the Father calls people to believe that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God the Father, He has obeyed the Will of God the Father and sacrificed himself to death to save humanity. Therefore, God the Father calls mankind to believe absolutely in the words of Jesus Christ's teachings. To follow sacrifice, accept death, and to obey the Will of God the Father. That is the perfect example of obedience that mankind must follow.
Do not seek ways to kill the only Son of God the Father anymore, do not try to defame Him, do not try to condemn Him, do not try to remove Him from ourselves any longer. Be wise and return to reconcile with God the Father, plead Him to forgive us for our past sins of disobeying the Will of God the Father, asking Him to erase all our sins. In some direct or indirect way, we killed Jesus, the only Son of God the Father. He sacrificed himself to death to save us, yet we betrayed Him, in turn we disobeyed the Will of God the Father. Please grant us a simple soul that is humble, self-abasing, and obediently can follow the example of Jesus Christ, so that we can recognize our sins, then we can know how to give up in order to be able to resist Satan's temptations, so we can return and reconcile with God the Father and obey His Will. The Word of God today calls all of humanity to know how to turn to God the Father, abandon the path of sin and follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, carry the cross with Him to Calvary Hill, to die and be resurrected with Him.
Pray to “please let me accept suffering, please let me know how to abandon my old self and put on the new self of Jesus Christ, which is meekness and humility, holiness and obedience to the Will of God the Father in all places and at all times. For all that I have done in the past, please forgive me for my sins, please purify me, so that my soul and body can be pure, so that I am worthy to carry the cross with You to Calvary to die with You.”
