“Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed.” (Lk 8:8)

FIRST READING - Is 2:1-5

"The mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established as the highest mountain. He shall judge between the nations and set terms for many peoples. One nation shall not raise the sword against another."

A reading from the First Book of Isaiah

[a]This is what Isaiah, son of Amoz, saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

    [b]In days to come,

The mountain of the Lord’s house

shall be established as the highest mountain

and raised above the hills.

All nations shall stream toward it.

Many peoples shall come and say:

“Come, let us go up to the Lord’s mountain,

to the house of the God of Jacob,

That he may instruct us in his ways,

and we may walk in his paths.

”For from Zion shall go forth instruction,

and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

[c]He shall judge between the nations,

and set terms for many peoples.

They shall beat their swords into plowshares

and their spears into pruning hooks;

One nation shall not raise the sword against another,

nor shall they train for war again.

[d]House of Jacob, come,

let us walk in the light of the Lord!

GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Mt 8:5-11

"Many will come from the east and the west, and will recline at the banquet in the kingdom of heaven."

From the Gospel according to Matthew

When he entered Capernaum,[a] a centurion approached him and appealed to him, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully.” He said to him, “I will come and cure him.” The centurion said in reply,[b] “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed. For I too am a person subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come here,’ and he comes; and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel[c] have I found such faith. 11 I say to you,[d] many will come from the east and the west, and will recline with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the banquet in the kingdom of heaven,

MONDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT Gospel (Mt 8:5-11)

THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

Dear people of God,

The Word of God in today's Gospel speaks of the absolute faith in God demonstrated by a centurion when he asked Jesus to heal his servant.

Through the centurion's example of faith, God wishes to instruct everyone: when anyone has absolute faith in God's love, they should turn to Him, earnestly pleading and imploring the merciful God, and He will grant them grace according to their faith, just as He proclaimed: “Your faith will save you!”

God is the God of all humanity.

He is the common Father of all people in this world. Before God, there is no distinction of religion, race, skin color, or class.

God is the Father, and all are His children. Therefore, He desires humanity to love one another and to honor and worship Him alone as the only One, for He created this entire universe, and for only He is the One who understands and loves humanity the most. Besides Him, no one loves humanity as much as Him.

God desires humanity to turn toward and approach Him, the Most High, the One who possesses power and strength, the only One who brings eternal life to humanity.

In today's Word of God, God calls upon all humanity to turn to the Most High, the only One; He will heal every sickness of both soul and body.

He will dispel all suffering and remove all captivity brought upon the human soul by Satan for so long.

God loves humanity, and He desires everyone to come to Him.

With just one word from God, all diseases and all captivity of Satan will have to leave a person, but on the condition that the person must have absolute faith in God's love, trusting in His power and strength, then He can do all things for everyone.

God has come, is present among, and walks alongside humanity; therefore, everyone should turn to the God of love, and He will soothe and heal all sufferings, all sorrows, and every anxiety brought by the world.

God does not want people to fall into the temptations and snares of Satan, because they are deceiving humanity, causing people not to turn to the God of love, but instead to worship and place the value of material things above all else.

Through the story in today's Gospel, God desires to tell all humanity to have absolute faith in His love and His power, just as the centurion did.

For love of his servant, he sought every means of healing, striving to find the highest physician, who is God, to heal his servant.

And God understood his heart, thus creating the opportunity for him to meet the highest physician, who is God, and it was God who healed his servant.

It was because of his love for his servant and, coupled with his absolute faith in God's strength and power, that God answered his prayer and healed his beloved servant.

God wants everyone to look at the centurion's example of faith, to imitate him by also having love for others, and to have absolute faith in the power and strength of God, the One who heals all sickness and infirmity in this world.

In the new era's Plan of Sanctification of the Holy Spirit, He wishes to have more generous hearts, who, like the centurion, know how to love their fellow human beings and courageously devote themselves to this plan, so that through it, God may use His finger to heals and bestows the grace of conversion to the people of this age, whose souls are being controlled and dominated by layers upon layers of Satan.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
