“That one man should die instead of the people, so that the whole nation may not perish.” (Jn 11:50)

FIRST READING - Ezek 37:21-28

I will make them one nation in the land."

A reading from the Book of Ezekiel

21 Say to them: Thus says the Lord God: I will soon take the Israelites from among the nations to which they have gone and gather them from all around to bring them back to their land. 22 I will make them one nation in the land, upon the mountains of Israel, and there shall be one king for them all. They shall never again be two nations, never again be divided into two kingdoms.

23 No longer shall they defile themselves with their idols, their abominations, and all their transgressions. I will deliver them from all their apostasy through which they sinned. I will cleanse them so that they will be my people, and I will be their God. 24 David my servant shall be king over them; they shall all have one shepherd. They shall walk in my ordinances, observe my statutes, and keep them. 25 They shall live on the land I gave to Jacob my servant, the land where their ancestors lived; they shall live on it always, they, their children, and their children’s children, with David my servant as their prince forever. 26 I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them. I will multiply them and put my sanctuary among them forever. 27 My dwelling shall be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people. 28 Then the nations shall know that I, the Lord, make Israel holy, by putting my sanctuary among them forever.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Jn 11:45-57

"o gather into one the dispersed children of God"

From the Gospel according to John

45 Now many of the Jews who had come to Mary and seen what he had done began to believe in him. 46 But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. 47 So the chief priests and the Pharisees convened the Sanhedrin and said, “What are we going to do? This man is performing many signs. 48 If we leave him alone, all will believe in him, and the Romans will come[a] and take away both our land and our nation.” 49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year,[b] said to them, “You know nothing, 50 nor do you consider that it is better for you that one man should die instead of the people, so that the whole nation may not perish.” 51 He did not say this on his own, but since he was high priest for that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation, 52 and not only for the nation, but also to gather into one the dispersed children of God.[c] 53 So from that day on they planned to kill him.

54 So Jesus no longer walked about in public among the Jews, but he left for the region near the desert, to a town called Ephraim,[d] and there he remained with his disciples.

55 Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before Passover to purify[e] themselves. 56 They looked for Jesus and said to one another as they were in the temple area, “What do you think? That he will not come to the feast?” 57 For the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should inform them, so that they might arrest him.

5th SATURDAY OF LENT - Gospel (John 11:45-57)

THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

Dear people of God,

In today's Word of God, God reveals to humanity the human rebellion against Him.

People persecute God and exclude Him from their lives.

Where does this action come from, is it from God or from Satan?

Satan always seeks to tempt and control, leading people away from God, away from His actions, and away from the Real and Present Word of God and the Eternal Word of God, so that Satan may run rampant, control, and manipulate people to do Satan’s will.

As today's Word of God reveals, when the High Priests and the Pharisees sought to cast God out, sought to kill Him, and sought to prevent Him from performing good, charitable, and loving deeds for humanity, where did this action come from? It came from Satan.

Today's Word of God continues to teach humanity that the period, during which Jesus was publicly active in saving and teaching people directly, has a connection to the Real and Present Word of God today in the work of God the Father under the activity of the Holy Spirit.

In the past, those among the learned classes, the Pharisees and the scribes, were controlled by Satan, seeking to kill and harm the Lord, and to remove Him from human society so that they could dominate people and control them according to their own will.

Demons of power and demons of pride controlled the Pharisees and the scribes, causing them not to believe that Jesus came from God the Father, nor to believe that His works were meant to save, teach, and guide humanity toward eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven. Thus, they sought every means to persecute and kill the Lord.

Furthermore, the Pharisees and the scribes also sought every way to control the people, preventing them from approaching Jesus to listen to His teachings and to be with Him, to be loved and taught by Him.

According to the Real and Present Word of God today in His work, there are scribes, pastors, religious, and officials who claim that the Real and Present Word of God comes from Satan, that the angels of God are disguised as Satan, and that those who work for God in His plan in this new era are minions of Satan.

Therefore, these scribes, clergy, religious, and officials—believing themselves to be experts in the Scriptures, knowledgeable in the law and theology, highly educated, and holding doctoral degrees—have condemned the work of God the Father in this new era and have sought to suppress the Real and Present Word of God—the Word of God written through the hand of the angel, Thien Thuong,—and have sought to exclude and dismantle the work of the House of God the Father and those who are aware of His work.

The Real and Present Word of God today teaches people to live morally, holily, and in fear and obedience to God, to live according to His laws and commandments of charity, love, forgiveness, gentleness, humility, self-abasement, simplicity, and fear of God the Father, doing all things according to His holy will and trusting in the life of the world to come.

Are these teachings of the Word of God any different from the teachings that Jesus gave in the Scriptures in the past, which still remain to this day?

The Word of Jesus taught in the Scriptures always directs humanity toward God the Father, toward the Kingdom of Heaven, and toward eternal life.

Even here on earth, one must live in charity and love, keeping God's laws of loving God and one’s neighbors, living according to the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount of Jesus; thus, the Real and Present Word of God today is no different from what Jesus taught in the Scriptures.

Today's Word of God teaches humanity to be wise in choosing to follow the teachings in the Scriptures and the Real and Present Word of God, living in close union with God and following His instructions.

One must absolutely not exclude God or turn a deaf ear to the Word of God the Father.

One must be determined to live and practice what God the Father teaches in the Scriptures and in the Real and Present Word of God so as not to be controlled or manipulated by Satan, and not to have one's soul stolen by him.

Listen to the Word of God and put it into practice.

Do not be like the Pharisees and scribes of old who sought to kill the Lord and exclude Him from their lives, and do not seek to exclude the Real and Present Word of God or dismantle the work of the House of God the Father.

Do not seek to control, manipulate, or exert power over those who are aware of the work of God the Father so that they may live and act according to His teachings.

Thanks be to God. Amen
