“When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” (Lk 18:8)

FIRST READING - 3 JN 5-8

A reading from the Letter of John

Beloved, you are faithful in all you do for the brothers and sisters,

especially for strangers;

they have testified to your love before the Church.

Please help them in a way worthy of God to continue their journey.

For they have set out for the sake of the Name

and are accepting nothing from the pagans.

Therefore, we ought to support such persons,

so that we may be co-workers in the truth.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY - LK 18:1-8

From the Gospel according to Luke

Jesus told his disciples a parable

about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary.

He said, “There was a judge in a certain town

who neither feared God nor respected any human being.

And a widow in that town used to come to him and say,

‘Render a just decision for me against my adversary.’

For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought,

‘While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being,

because this widow keeps bothering me

I shall deliver a just decision for her

lest she finally come and strike me.’”

The Lord said, “Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says.

Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones

who call out to him day and night?

Will he be slow to answer them?

I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily.

But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

32ND SATURDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Lk 18:1-8)

THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

Dear People of God,

Today's Word of God teaches the disciples of old as well as everyone in the world today: be vigilant and persevere in praying to God. Because while praying, Satan will tempt people not to be persistent and patient in order to be closely united with God. They will infiltrate people's minds, inciting people to do as they please, making people not listen to God's teachings to know how to live to please God.

God invites everyone to be vigilant and persevere in praying even more. God knows every thought, word, action and deed of each person; so before they even ask, God already knows what that person wants to ask of God. God always wants the best for everyone. God is Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. He understands everything about people in the present and future material world. God invites everyone to persevere in praying to God; do not give up or be discouraged; the things that God gives to everyone are always good. Today's Word of God teaches everyone: to persevere in praying; be vigilant in our thoughts, words, actions, and deeds; be vigilant in absolute trust in God, because only when people have strong faith in God's love will people not fall into Satan's trap. He presented the image of an unjust judge and a widow; although he was an unjust judge, he still knew how to accept the widow's request to judge and bring her justice. The unjust judge was defeated by the widow's perseverance and patience, who pestered him every day to bring her justice. Moreover, this is a God of love. He is the One who always gives good things to people.

In today's Word of God, God calls everyone: to be awake in all places and at all times, to be awake before the temptations of Satan, to be awake before our prayers and requests offered to God with absolute trust in Him who is the One who loves. He will accept our prayers and give all blessings to those who know how to listen and live according to God's teachings. He does not want people to be discouraged when praying without hearing God's teachings directly through the eyes of people. He calls on everyone to always have faith in the God of love, to believe that God will grant all blessings according to the needs of their lives. Believe that God loves everyone, and He will always give blessings to those who know how to run and call on the holy name of God.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
