FIRST READING - Jon 3:1-10
"They turned from their evil way."
A reading from the Book of Jonah
1 The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time: 2 Set out for the great city of Nineveh, and announce to it the message that I will tell you. 3 So Jonah set out for Nineveh, in accord with the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an awesomely great city; it took three days to walk through it. 4 Jonah began his journey through the city, and when he had gone only a single day’s walk announcing, “Forty days more and Nineveh shall be overthrown,” 5 the people of Nineveh believed God; they proclaimed a fast and all of them, great and small,[a] put on sackcloth.
6 When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 Then he had this proclaimed throughout Nineveh:[b] “By decree of the king and his nobles, no man or beast, no cattle or sheep, shall taste anything; they shall not eat, nor shall they drink water. 8 Man and beast alike must be covered with sackcloth and call loudly to God; they all must turn from their evil way and from the violence of their hands. 9 [c]Who knows? God may again repent and turn from his blazing wrath, so that we will not perish.” 10 When God saw by their actions how they turned from their evil way, he repented of the evil he had threatened to do to them; he did not carry it out.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Lk 11:29-32
"This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah."
✠From the Gospel according to Luke
29 While still more people gathered in the crowd, he said to them, “This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah. 30 Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. 31 At the judgment the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here. 32 At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here.

1st WEDNESDAY IN LENT - Gospel - (Luke 11:29-32)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear people of God,
Today's Word of God reveals to humanity that since Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying God, sin has spread throughout the earth.
Satan is always prowling, surrounding humanity with temptations to sin. They cause death, war, incest, and all kinds of suffering.
But in every stage, in every age, God always loves, looks upon, and watches over humans in all places and at all times.
He sent down to humanity the patriarchs, the prophets, and the messengers to speak the Word of God to guide humanity, to call everyone to repentance, to return to God, and to live in love and forgiveness, such as: patriarch Abraham, Joseph of Egypt, Noah, King David, King Solomon, and many other prophets, such as prophet Jonah, whom today’s gospel speaks of.
Yet despite this, humanity continued to sin greatly. People rebelled against God by worshiping foreign gods, worshiping gods who can neither laugh nor speak.
God fulfilled His promise: He sent the Savior, the Son of God, into the world to become human, to suffer death, and to rise again after three days to save humanity from sin and liberate us from the captivity of Satan.
However, the ultimate crime of mankind was the slaying of the Son of God Himself, which was the design of Satan.
Yet the death and resurrection of the Son of God constitute the definitive victory of God over the powers of Satan.
Subsequently, God permitted the apostles, the Church Fathers, and the saints to continue proclaiming the Word of God, yet they were also killed and rejected.
In this day and age, God has once again chosen Chu Thien Thuong as an instrument used by God to write His Word, the Real Present Word of God, to call everyone to repentance, to abandon the path of sin and return to God, to return and to live according to the wise teachings of God in the Holy scriptures, which is the eternal Word of God.
God has made it known to humanity that this age is the Age of the Holy Spirit, Who is at work to help people live out the Word of God.
When someone knows to run to God and to those whom He uses as His instrument, that is true wisdom.
God knows that in this present age, Satan is increasingly rampant in the world to tempt and lure people away from God, and to seize souls into their hands.
Because of this, God always loves and desires to save humanity from the hands of Satan; thus, He uses Chu Thien Thuong to write the Word of God the Father, to guide humanity, to help people to live according to what God the Father teaches, to fight against Satan, to repel satan’s temptations and allurements, so that humanity may reduce the warfare, hatred, death, and suffering caused by human sin.
Today, God instructs and calls upon humanity to be vigilant and return to God; be watchful and return to and unite with those whom God uses in this age, so that God may be with us and to attain eternal life hereafter.
Just as in the past, the Queen of the South came from the ends of the earth to seek the wisdom of King Solomon, the chosen one of God; so today, whoever is wise should seek God by seeking Chu Thien Thuong.
God chooses and employs Chu Thien Thuong to write the Word of God the Father, to assist everyone in the conversion of our lives, so that we may return to and live in accordance with the Word of God as commanded in the Holy Scriptures.
In doing so, we may attain eternal life, which is the ultimate end that humanity needs to achieve.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
