“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Mt 11:28)
FIRST READING - Is 40:25-31
A reading from the Book of Isaiah
To whom can you liken me as an equal?
says the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes on high
and see who has created these things:
He leads out their army and numbers them,
calling them all by name.
By his great might and the strength of his power
not one of them is missing!
Why, O Jacob, do you say,
and declare, O Israel,
"My way is hidden from the LORD,
and my right is disregarded by my God"?
Do you not know
or have you not heard?
The LORD is the eternal God,
creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint nor grow weary,
and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny.
He gives strength to the fainting;
for the weak he makes vigor abound.
Though young men faint and grow weary,
and youths stagger and fall,
They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength,
they will soar as with eagles' wings;
They will run and not grow weary,
walk and not grow faint.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Mt 11:28-30
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Jesus said to the crowds:
"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."

WEDNESDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF ADVENT - Gospel (Mt 11:28-30)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
The Word of God for today calls upon all humanity to run to God's love, to run to His mercy, for it is only in God's immeasurable mercy that people can find rest for their souls and bodies, while the world remains limited. Therefore, today's Word of God calls all humanity to take on God's yoke; God's yoke is always gentle, mild, peaceful and joyful in the Holy Spirit.
God calls all mankind to run to God, learn from Him meekness and humility. The only place where people can find happiness and eternal life is in God.
Therefore, the Word of God today invites all humanity, all those who are facing suffering, difficulties, and challenges in this world:
Be courageous! Run to God, whose love is infinite; He always opens His arms to welcome all humanity, to welcome all souls who are suffering, sad, worried, or afraid.
Have absolute trust in God. He is the truth, He is always present in every suffering soul.
Return to your own heart, return to your own conscience. God will teach you what to do, what not to do; so that from there people will always live happily and peacefully in God's love.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
