“The kingdom of God is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch of dough was leavened.” (Lk 13:21)
FIRST READING - EPH 5:21-33
A reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians
Brothers and sisters:
Be subordinate to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord.
For the husband is head of his wife
just as Christ is head of the Church,
he himself the savior of the Body.
As the Church is subordinate to Christ,
so wives should be subordinate to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives,
even as Christ loved the Church
and handed himself over for her to sanctify her,
cleansing her by the bath of water with the word,
that he might present to himself the Church in splendor,
without spot or wrinkle or any such thing,
that she might be holy and without blemish.
So also husbands should love their wives as their own bodies.
He who loves his wife loves himself.
For no one hates his own flesh
but rather nourishes and cherishes it,
even as Christ does the Church,
because we are members of his Body.
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother
and be joined to his wife,
and the two shall become one flesh.
This is a great mystery,
but I speak in reference to Christ and the Church.
In any case, each one of you should love his wife as himself,
and the wife should respect her husband.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - LK 13:18-21
From the Gospel according to Luke
Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like?
To what can I compare it?
It is like a mustard seed that a man took and planted in the garden.
When it was fully grown, it became a large bush
and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.”
Again he said, “To what shall I compare the Kingdom of God?
It is like yeast that a woman took
and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour
until the whole batch of dough was leavened.”

TUESDAY OF THE THIRTIETH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Lk 13:18-21)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
In today's Gospel, God gives two images to illustrate the Kingdom of Heaven, which are: a mustard seed sown in the garden and a handful of yeast mixed with three measures of flour.God teaches everyone that to enter the Kingdom of God, people must be nourished by grace and the Word of God in their souls, that is, they must listen and practice exactly what Jesus taught when He came to earth as a human. Those who live and practice what He taught will have the Kingdom of Heaven reign in their souls. When God calls them out of this world, He will welcome them into the eternal happiness of the Kingdom of Heaven.
God tells everyone: in the Kingdom of God there are only good, beautiful, and holy things. It is the most peaceful and happy place that cannot be found anywhere else. This world is only a temporary life, full of darkness, suffering, and death. God does not want people to live forever in the darkness of the world. Therefore, when people are living in this world but do not know how to nurture, do not know how to cultivate, do not know how to make the word of God grow in their souls, they cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven; because the Kingdom of God will be present and gradually grow in the soul of each person. God does not want to lose any soul.
In today's Word of God, God invites everyone to:
Follow the path of Jesus Christ, which is the path of love and hardship. To enter the eternal Kingdom of Heaven, people will have to endure purification, hardship, and suffering; but hardship by the grace of God will lead people to the eternal Kingdom of Heaven in the future.
Return to Him, accept, and walk in the grace that God gives to people. That grace is the love, kindness, and tolerance of God. He always opens His arms to welcome and invite everyone: to abandon the path of sin, repent and change their old self, and put on the person of Jesus Christ to have happiness as the Kingdom of Heaven reigns in our own souls.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
