FIRST READING - Acts 20:17-27

"If only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus."

A reading from the Book of the Acts of the Apostles

17 From Miletus he had the presbyters of the church at Ephesus summoned. 18 When they came to him, he addressed them, “You know how I lived among you the whole time from the day I first came to the province of Asia. 19 I served the Lord with all humility and with the tears and trials that came to me because of the plots of the Jews, 20 and I did not at all shrink from telling you what was for your benefit, or from teaching you in public or in your homes. 21 I earnestly bore witness for both Jews and Greeks to repentance before God and to faith in our Lord Jesus. 22 But now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem. What will happen to me there I do not know, 23 except that in one city after another the holy Spirit has been warning me that imprisonment and hardships await me. 24 Yet I consider life of no importance to me, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to bear witness to the gospel of God’s grace.

25 “But now I know that none of you to whom I preached the kingdom during my travels will ever see my face again. 26 And so I solemnly declare to you this day that I am not responsible for the blood of any of you, 27 for I did not shrink from proclaiming to you the entire plan of God.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Jn 17:1-11a

"Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your son."

From the Gospel according to John

[a] When Jesus had said this, he raised his eyes to heaven[b] and said, “Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your son, so that your son may glorify you, [c]just as you gave him authority over all people, so that he may give eternal life to all you gave him. [d]Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ. I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do. Now glorify me, Father, with you, with the glory that I had with you before the world began.

“I revealed your name[e] to those whom you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you gave me is from you, because the words you gave to me I have given to them, and they accepted them and truly understood that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me, because they are yours, 10 and everything of mine is yours and everything of yours is mine, and I have been glorified in them. 11 And now I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, while I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are.

TUESDAY OF THE SEVENTH WEEK OF EASTER - Gospel (John 17:1-11a)

THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

Dear People of God,

In today's Word of God, the Lord reveals to all humanity the dialogue between Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, and God the Father.

God is all-powerful, incomparably beautiful, and infinitely sublime. Meanwhile, humanity is but a lowly, small, weak creature, full of sin and betrayal against God the Father.

Why, then, does God the Father love, forgive, and show mercy toward humanity? It is because of God the Father's infinitely great love for humanity that He sacrificed and sent His only begotten Son into the world to accompany and save mankind.

Through the dialogue between Jesus Christ and God the Father, He wants all humanity to know that God the Father is real, that He truly exists, that He is the only one, and that He is love.

In the work of salvation of God the Father, He sent His only begotten Son into the world to bring His words to teach humanity, as Jesus Christ prayed to God the Father: “I have passed on to the world everything that You have given to Me.”

God the Father and Jesus Christ are one God; there is nothing that He cannot do.

Through the dialogue of Jesus Christ with God the Father, He wants humanity to know that everything that Jesus Christ has taught humanity, or all the powers and miracles that Jesus Christ has performed, are to prove to humanity that the existence of God the Father is real, and to reach God the Father, who is the source of life, one must go through Jesus Christ.

He will lead humanity to God the Father, but on the condition that humanity must listen to and practice the words that Jesus Christ has taught. That is, practice charity and love; practice the love and reverence for God the Father above all things; and have absolute trust in Him as the only One who brings eternal life.

Apart from Him, there is no god as great as God the Father.

This is what God calls upon humanity to do in the world today:

  • Return to Jesus Christ, return to God the Father.

  • Listen to and practice the words of God the Father taught through many ways: through your brothers and sisters, through the Word of God recorded under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, which is the Word of God in the Gospel and the Real and Present Word of God.

In this new age, the period of the Holy Spirit's activity, God the Father has chosen the House of God the Father in Bao Loc, which is the place where God the Father’s plan has been established at the sanctuary of God the Father.

Here, God is present; here, the power and spirit of the Holy Spirit are active; this is the Word of God written by the hand of Angel Thien Thuong, called the Real and Present Word of God to teach humanity directly and specifically in every situation of daily life.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
