"As for you, Capernaum: 'Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld" (Mt 11:23)
READING OF THE DAY
A reading from the Book of Isaiah
Is 7:1-9
In the days of Ahaz, king of Judah, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah,
Rezin, king of Aram,
and Pekah, king of Israel, son of Remaliah,
went up to attack Jerusalem,
but they were not able to conquer it.
When word came to the house of David that Aram
was encamped in Ephraim,
the heart of the king and the heart of the people trembled,
as the trees of the forest tremble in the wind.
Then the LORD said to Isaiah: Go out to meet Ahaz,
you and your son Shear-jashub,
at the end of the conduit of the upper pool,
on the highway of the fuller’s field, and say to him:
Take care you remain tranquil and do not fear;
let not your courage fail
before these two stumps of smoldering brands
the blazing anger of Rezin and the Arameans,
and of the son Remaliah,
because of the mischief that
Aram, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah,
plots against you, saying,
“Let us go up and tear Judah asunder, make it our own by force,
and appoint the son of Tabeel king there.”
Thus says the LORD:
This shall not stand, it shall not be!
Damascus is the capital of Aram,
and Rezin is the head of Damascus;
Samaria is the capital of Ephraim,
and Remaliah’s son the head of Samaria.
But within sixty years and five,
Ephraim shall be crushed, no longer a nation.
Unless your faith is firm
you shall not be firm!
GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 11:20-24
Jesus began to reproach the towns
where most of his mighty deeds had been done,
since they had not repented.
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!
For if the mighty deeds done in your midst
had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes.
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable
for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
And as for you, Capernaum:
Will you be exalted to heaven?
You will go down to the nether world.
For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Sodom,
it would have remained until this day.
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable
for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”

TUESDAY OF THE FIFTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - Mt 11:20-24
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
The Word of God today warns everyone that those who hear the Word of God the Father, those who have been revealed by Him, those who have been shown His miracles, and those who have been shown and experienced His love, He requires that person must have faith and strong conviction in Him.
Each soul is given a loving heart by God, knowing a God who is omnipotent, perfect, the master of the universe, and the master of all humanity. Therefore, each soul will have to answer before God for the miracles and blessings that God has given and shown. Anyone who has a great deal of knowledge about God the Father, who is the almighty, but does not practice it with fear and respect for Him, will be punished more severely. Also, He will judge those souls who deliberately do not know that God the Father is the almighty One and master of the entire universe.
He judges based on the practice of the two most important commandments, which are: "Love God above all things, and love our neighbor as ourselves."
There is no one in this world who is unaware of the existence of a Creator of the entire universe.
If we look into the conscience or heart of each individual, we will see that there is a God the Father who is the One that is the master of the entire universe and of all living things.
The Word of God today reminds everyone that He will judge based on the natural law of knowing God in each soul; and He will lessen the punishment of those souls who always know how to respect God, the Creator of heaven, earth, and all creatures. Thus, only with fear and respect for God can people not dare to sin and try to live well so as not to displease God the Father.
Every soul is made aware and enlightened by an almighty God the Father.
Therefore, He calls all of His children to always know to fear and respect God the Father in every place, at all times, in every way and every step, and follow His teachings and we will please Him and Satan will not disturb to snatch that soul out of the hands of God the Father, as He promised: those who fear God and faithfully live according to His teachings, He will grant us grace of salvation which is the Kingdom of Heaven to come.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
