FIRST READING - Gen 1:26-2:3
A reading from the Book of Genesis
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.
31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
2 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Mt 13:54-58
From the Gospel according to Matthew
54 Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked. 55 “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? 56 Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” 57 And they took offense at him.
But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.”
58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

THURSDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF EASTER - Gospel (Jn 13: 54-58)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
In today's Word of God, God introduces the genealogy of Jesus Christ: He is the Son of God, sent to earth to become human. God placed Him in an ordinary family—the Holy Family—which He chose from time immemorial.
God revealed the reason why He chose the family of Saint Joseph to be the foster family of Jesus Christ. Saint Joseph’s family was just an ordinary family like any other. Saint Joseph worked to make a living like everyone else; he was neither an earthly king nor the son of a high-ranking official. Through this, God wanted to show that He has full authority over everyone; whatever He wills, He can do. No one can impose their will on Him.
God also emphasized that although the Son of God is supreme, He humbled Himself to become human. Moreover, He chose to be born into a simple, humble family. Specifically, Saint Joseph was an ordinary, hardworking man like many others. Yet Saint Joseph was faithful to God and cooperated in the work of salvation by becoming the foster father who raised the Son of God, alongside the Blessed Virgin Mary, who gave birth to Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
God lets humanity know that He is the master of everything in His work of salvation. He placed Jesus Christ as a human being born into a normal family to sacrifice Himself and die to save all humanity. Through this, God calls all people to:
Be united and love one another, because all people are children of the one true God.
God provides for all things in the work of salvation in which the Son of God Himself came down to earth to become a human to accompany humanity.
Believe in the truth that Jesus Christ came down to the family of Saint Joseph and lived in the village of Nazareth.
Listen to and accept the words Jesus Christ taught the people, and put them into practice. His teachings are the words of life. He is the supreme prophet who brings the word of God to humanity. There is nothing He cannot do. Therefore, today, God invites all humanity to:
Look up and contemplate a God of love.
hank God for sending His only Son to earth to became a human, to live in the family of Saint Joseph.
Follow the example and live according to the virtues of meekness, humility of heart, and sacrifice shown by Mother Mary and Saint Joseph, who cooperated with Jesus Christ in the salvation of humanity.
May is the month of offering flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary. During this time, God invites everyone to:
Listen to the advice of Our Lady of Fatima: “Diligently pray the Rosary to save souls.”
Know that Mother Mary accepts the prayers of those who have hearts full of love for her and who diligently pray the Rosary. Through the Rosary, people can enter into contemplation of the life of Jesus Christ.
Understand that whoever wants to enter the Kingdom of Heaven must go through Jesus Christ, for He is the path that leads to God the Father and to the Kingdom of Heaven.
This is the Word of God given to Our Lady, to guide and call all of God’s children to live and practice what He teaches, and to answer the call of Our Lady of Fatima to all people.
Thanks be to God. Amen
