FIRST READING - 1 Chr. 15:3-4,15-16; 16:1-2
"They brought in the ark of God and set it within the tent which David had pitched for it."
A reading from the First Book of Chronicles
3 Then David assembled all Israel to Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the Lord to its place, which he had prepared for it. 4 David also convened the sons of Aaron and the Levites: 15 The Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the Lord.
16 David commanded the commanders of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers and to play on musical instruments, harps, lyres, and cymbals, to make a loud sound of rejoicing. 1 They brought in the ark of God and set it within the tent which David had pitched for it. Then they sacrificed burnt offerings and communion offerings to God. 2 When David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and communion offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord,
SECOND READING - 1 Cor 15:54b-57
"God gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians
54 [a]And when this which is corruptible clothes itself with incorruptibility and this which is mortal clothes itself with immortality, then the word that is written shall come about:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.55 Where, O death, is your victory?Where, O death, is your sting?”
56 The sting of death is sin,[b] and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Lk 11:27-28
“Blessed is the womb that carried you.”
✠From the Gospel according to Luke
27 While he was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.” 28 He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”

SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY VIGIL - Gospel (Luke 11:27-28)
Dear People of God,
Today's Word of God invites all the children of mankind: listen to the Word of God and put it into practice, and follow the example of the Holy Mary. She was the first woman chosen by God to participate in God's plan of salvation. She obeyed God's will absolutely. She pleased Him in all places and at all times. Because of her humility and self-abasement, along with listening and obeying God's will, she fulfilled her duty in God's plan of salvation, and now God has taken her body and soul to heaven, enjoying happiness in the Kingdom of Heaven with God.
All of His children are loved by God and are given by Him to be her children; therefore, God's invitation to people is to submit to His will at all times and all places. As Holy Mary said yes: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” These are the words that please God. God also wants His children to know how to say 'yes' to God: "Yes! I am a sinful child. Please let me know how to obey Your will at all times and all places." God will be pleased with this way of submitting to His will.
Today's Word of God also invites His children to run to Holy Mary and pray to her:
"Please intercede with God for me, so that I may have the strength to obey His will; so that I may know how to be humble, to lower myself and follow your example—Holy Mary—who once listened to the Word of God and put it into practice, cooperating in the plan of God's salvation."
"And through the very life of Holy Mary, please allow me to wholeheartedly serve the will of God until my last breath. Please help me to remain faithful to Him at all times and in all places, so that everything that happens to me may always be pleasing to God. Please accompany us in our fight against Satan in this world. Please teach us always to say ‘yes’ to God. From there, may we know how to courageously reject the sins and temptations of Satan, and obey the will of God—resolutely refusing to follow the temptations and selfish desires of our personal ego."
This is God's call to the children of mankind: know how to run to and call upon the holy name of Mary, so that through the intercession of Holy Mary to God, He may answer our prayers. God will always protect and defend us, just as Holy Mary herself will accompany the people on this earth as they fight against Satan and resist his cunning temptations.
May we be awakened to avoid occasions of sin, and remain alert to listen to and obey the will of God at all times and in all places. This is God's call to all the children of mankind in the world today: run to Holy Mary, for she lives to please God. Whatever Holy Mary asks, God will also answer—on behalf of the children of mankind.
Today’s Word of God invites everyone to look toward the happiness of the Kingdom of Heaven. Pray to God:
"Lord, please help me to put into practice Your Word, so that at the end of the journey in this life on earth, You will grant me the grace to attain the happiness in the Kingdom of Heaven with You, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the angels, and the saints."
Thanks be to God. Amen
