SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER - Jn 15:9-17 - THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

"I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father." (Jn 15:15)
READING OF THE DAY
First reading from the Acts of the Apostles
Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48
When Peter entered, Cornelius met him
and, falling at his feet, paid him homage.
Peter, however, raised him up, saying,
"Get up. I myself am also a human being."
Then Peter proceeded to speak and said,
"In truth, I see that God shows no partiality.
Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly
is acceptable to him."
While Peter was still speaking these things,
the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the word.
The circumcised believers who had accompanied Peter
were astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit
should have been poured out on the Gentiles also,
for they could hear them speaking in tongues and glorifying God.
Then Peter responded,
"Can anyone withhold the water for baptizing these people,
who have received the Holy Spirit even as we have?"
He ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
Second reading from the first Letter of John
1 Jn 4:7-10
Beloved, let us love one another,
because love is of God;
everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God.
Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love.
In this way the love of God was revealed to us:
God sent his only Son into the world
so that we might have life through him.
In this is love:
not that we have loved God, but that he loved us
and sent his Son as expiation for our sins.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to John
Jn 15:9-17
Jesus said to his disciples:
"As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commandments
and remain in his love.
"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you
and your joy might be complete.
This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
No one has greater love than this,
to lay down one's life for one's friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
I no longer call you slaves,
because a slave does not know what his master is doing.
I have called you friends,
because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you
and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain,
so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.
This I command you: love one another."
SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER - Jn 15:9-17
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
In God's Word today, God the Father calls all of His children around the world to turn to God as the only Father who loves humanity. This love is demonstrated in God the Father's only Son, Jesus Christ.
God the Father is rich in mercy. His love covers all the sins, weaknesses, and offenses of mankind against God the Father. God the Father is almighty, he covers the entire universe. Everything is under His authority. The authority of God the Father is the power to destroy all the darknesses of sin, hatred, jealousy, selfishness, and death that Satan seeks to lead His children to sin. The way that God the Father will reconcile humanity - is the only creation that God the Father created in His image - that is love. This love was shown by God the Father in humanity when He sent His Son as the only Son down to earth as a human being to love and die to eliminate the hatred and death that Satan brought to humanity.
The love that the only Son of God the Father gives to mankind is when mankind knows how to listen and obey the will of God the Father and live the words of love according to the example of Jesus Christ. God the Father calls all creations that He has created: to run and rely on His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and to remain in His love through living a way of love. Know how to worship God the Father alone, who is the only One. Only the love of God the Father can resolve the death and hatred of mankind.
God the Father calls man to run to His mercy, to stay in His love. He will give all blessings. The blessings that God the Father gives to humanity is peace, and profound happiness when humanity knows to fear and worship the only God the Father and love others as themselves.
God the Father calls His children to abandon their sinful ways and prostrate themselves before God the Father through his only Son, Jesus Christ. Remain in His love! Love covers all humanity through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Love also covers all humanity through the only Son, Jesus Christ, present in the Eucharist. He is the true God, and a true man, hidden in the Eucharist. Come, stay, and receive His Body. And when anyone receives the Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, they should put aside their sinful paths. They should learn to listen and submit to the will of God the Father and do everything to glorify God the Father, and to pursue the benefits of their souls.
God the Father calls all His children:
- To follow the example of the saints of the past to always believe in the only Son, that is Jesus Christ.
- To remain in His love, so that He will fill us with the grace to listen and to carry out the will of God the Father - who is rich in mercy. This love will lead us to be close to God the Father and will lead people to a close union with God the Father, expressed through obedience to God the Father's will by living a gentle and humble life.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
