"A bruised reed He will not break, a smoldering wick He will not quench." (Mt 12:20)

READING OF THE DAY

A reading from the Book of Micah

Mi 2:1-5

Woe to those who plan iniquity,

and work out evil on their couches;

In the morning light they accomplish it

when it lies within their power.

They covet fields, and seize them;

houses, and they take them;

They cheat an owner of his house,

a man of his inheritance.

Therefore thus says the LORD:

Behold, I am planning against this race an evil

from which you shall not withdraw your necks;

Nor shall you walk with head high,

for it will be a time of evil.

On that day a satire shall be sung over you,

and there shall be a plaintive chant:

"Our ruin is complete,

our fields are portioned out among our captors,

The fields of my people are measured out,

and no one can get them back!"

Thus you shall have no one

to mark out boundaries by lot

in the assembly of the LORD.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY

From the Gospel according to Matthew

Mt 12:14-21

The Pharisees went out and took counsel against Jesus

to put him to death.

When Jesus realized this, he withdrew from that place.

Many people followed him, and he cured them all,

but he warned them not to make him known.

This was to fulfill what had been spoken through Isaiah the prophet:

Behold, my servant whom I have chosen,

my beloved in whom I delight;

I shall place my Spirit upon him,

and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.

He will not contend or cry out,

nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets.

A bruised reed he will not break,

a smoldering wick he will not quench,

until he brings justice to victory.

And in his name the Gentiles will hope.

SATURDAY OF THE FIFTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - Mt 12:14-21

THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

Dear People of God,

The Word of God today speaks of God's immense love and mercy for all humanity: "A bruised reed he will not break, a smoldering wick he will not quench until he brings justice to victory. And in his name, the Gentiles will hope."

God sees that humans are full of sins and imperfections before Him. However, He cannot bear to let the human soul suffer under the domination and imprisonment of Satan. Therefore, God humbled Himself to earth, taking on human status to be with, accompany, and save humans from the captivity of Satan through His death and resurrection.

The love of God the Father is manifested in His only Son, Jesus Christ.

On this earth, no one has greater love than the love of God the Father. Even though Jesus Christ was insulted and killed by humans, He always opened His arms and loving heart to welcome repentant sinners return to God, so that He can comfort, support, and heal the wounds devoured by Satan.

God's love is clearly seen in the image of Jesus healing all diseases and illnesses for all who believe in His name. For those who come to Him and believe in the power of God the Father, He heals those souls and gives them eternal life.

The purpose of human life is to find the precious pearl that is the future Kingdom of Heaven.

The Word of God today tells everyone: The main purpose of Jesus Christ's coming to earth to become a human being, is not only to heal physical diseases but to save human souls from the captivity of Satan, which are the soul that knows how to abandon its sinful path and return to God the Father.

Today, to continue the mission of Jesus Christ, He continues to send His apostles to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven, calling everyone to repent and return to God the Father to be healed by Him. Heal all diseases of the body and soul. Whoever believes in the name of Jesus Christ will be saved.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
