READING OF THE DAY

A reading from the Book of Hosea

Hos 2:16, 17c-18, 21-22

Thus says the LORD:

I will allure her;

I will lead her into the desert

and speak to her heart.

She shall respond there as in the days of her youth,

when she came up from the land of Egypt.

On that day, says the LORD,

She shall call me “My husband,”

and never again “My baal.”

I will espouse you to me forever:

I will espouse you in right and in justice,

in love and in mercy;

I will espouse you in fidelity,

and you shall know the LORD.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY

From the Gospel according to Matthew

Mt 9:18-26

While Jesus was speaking, an official came forward,

knelt down before him, and said,

“My daughter has just died.

But come, lay your hand on her, and she will live.”

Jesus rose and followed him, and so did his disciples.

A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him

and touched the tassel on his cloak.

She said to herself, “If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.”

Jesus turned around and saw her, and said,

“Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.”

And from that hour the woman was cured.

When Jesus arrived at the official’s house

and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion,

he said, “Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping.”

And they ridiculed him.

When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand,

and the little girl arose.

And news of this spread throughout all that land.

THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

Dear People of God,

The Gospel of today tells how Jesus healed the daughter of a leader who died and was brought back to life. He also healed a woman who had suffered from bleeding for 12 years.

The Word of God today tells everyone that God has done a remarkable thing that no one has ever done: raised the dead. God can do all things. Only God alone has the power to raise the dead, He alone is the One who gives people life; Besides, no one can give life to humans. God can provide everything and heal everyone, but God requires that person to cooperate with God with absolute trust in Him.

The Word of God today also talks about the strong faith of a leader. He had absolute faith and trust in God's power and strength that He can bring the dead back to life. It was because of that belief that God brought his dead daughter back to life. This was an event that made the Jewish people at that time, as well as the whole world, admire and glorify God; Because they had never seen anyone do that before.

God's Word also tells of the faith of a woman who had suffered from bleeding for 12 years. She suffered very much from this disease. She went everywhere for treatment, but no one could cure her, except God alone. It was because she had absolute faith in God and His power that she found every way to just touch the tassel of His garment. From God, a power came forth that cured the disease that had caused her to suffer for so many years.

Through that, God lovingly teaches everyone a lesson, which is: that everyone who wants to be blessed and healed by God, to be protected by God, should believe and have absolute trust in God's power and strength. God can do everything in this world, there is nothing that He cannot do; in particular, only God is the giver of life.

It is an event in which the Holy Spirit opens up in God the Father's house and makes the people of Vietnam and the world worship God because God Himself casts out demons, converts, and heals people. Run to Him, and put our faith in Him. Believe in God using Chu Thien Thuong to write His Word. Additionally, God permitted angels to become humans so that they could work with humans to expel demons, heal, and convert sinners, believe that God uses demons to work under the direction of God, and believe that God saves all sinners, including demons if they repent.

Therefore, He invites all of His children, those who want conversion, healing, and eternal life, to run to God. We should have absolute trust in Him, and if we do everything according to God's instructions, we will have eternal life with God.
