FIRST READING - Genesis 1:1-19
A reading from the Book of Genesis
In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth,
the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss,
while a mighty wind swept over the waters.
Then God said,
“Let there be light,” and there was light.
God saw how good the light was.
God then separated the light from the darkness.
God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.”
Thus evening came, and morning followed–the first day.
Then God said,
“Let there be a dome in the middle of the waters,
to separate one body of water from the other.”
And so it happened:
God made the dome,
and it separated the water above the dome from the water below it.
God called the dome “the sky.”
Evening came, and morning followed–the second day.
Then God said,
“Let the water under the sky be gathered into a single basin,
so that the dry land may appear.”
And so it happened:
the water under the sky was gathered into its basin,
and the dry land appeared.
God called the dry land “the earth,”
and the basin of the water he called “the sea.”
God saw how good it was.
Then God said,
“Let the earth bring forth vegetation:
every kind of plant that bears seed
and every kind of fruit tree on earth
that bears fruit with its seed in it.”
And so it happened:
the earth brought forth every kind of plant that bears seed
and every kind of fruit tree on earth that
bears fruit with its seed in it.
God saw how good it was.
Evening came, and morning followed–the third day.
Then God said:
“Let there be lights in the dome of the sky,
to separate day from night.
Let them mark the fixed times, the days and the years,
and serve as luminaries in the dome of the sky,
to shed light upon the earth.”
And so it happened:
God made the two great lights,
the greater one to govern the day,
and the lesser one to govern the night;
and he made the stars.
God set them in the dome of the sky,
to shed light upon the earth,
to govern the day and the night,
and to separate the light from the darkness.
God saw how good it was.
Evening came, and morning followed–the fourth day.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Mark 6:53-56
From the Gospel according to Mark
After making the crossing to the other side of the sea,
Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret
and tied up there.
As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him.
They scurried about the surrounding country
and began to bring in the sick on mats
to wherever they heard he was.
Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered,
they laid the sick in the marketplaces
and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak;
and as many as touched it were healed.

MONDAY OF THE FIFTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Mark 6:53-56)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
In today's Word of God, God the Father calls on mankind that, we must ask for His mercy to forgive our sins when we run to Him.
Ask God the Father to increase our strength so we can have the courage to abandon Satan's sinful path and return to Him. We should plead with Him to heal our souls since the soul is a precious part of humanity that needs to be healed.
Yet in today's world, God the Father only sees people come to ask for healing of the body but not for healing of the soul. The body is what will perish, but the soul is immortal.
God the Father wants humanity to know that we must love our souls, respect our souls, and respect our eternal lives.
As a result, that is the wisdom humans need to acquire. God the Father wants humanity to be awake before the temptations of Satan because they are hypocrites, they are the ones who do not exist forever, they are the evil ones who seek every way to steal the souls of mankind.
Satan is very cunning. They try every way to deceive mankind into only healing the body so that the soul always lives in sin without knowing how to repent.
Today's Word of God, God the Father made known to all mankind that when Jesus Christ was present in this world, humanity only came to Him for healing of our illnesses and infirmities, but did not ask Him to heal our souls and bodies, did not ask Him to increase our strength, did not ask Him to grant us the graces of faith, conversion, nor healing of the souls and bodies.
God The Father wants to remind humankind today to know how to fear God the Father and wisely run to Him, asking Him to increase our faith and ask Him to grant us the grace of conversion and the grace of healing both souls as well as bodies.
And be determined to abandon the temptations of Satan, abandon the path of sin, and return to reconcile with God the Father. When we make peace with God the Father, He will bestow all blessings on our souls as well as our bodies, and He will grant us eternal happiness in the Kingdom of Heaven. It is this wisdom that God the Father calls upon humankind to awaken to and attain.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
