“We have found the Messiah.” (Jn 1:41)
FIRST READING - 1 John 3:7-10
A reading from the First letter of John
Children, let no one deceive you.
The person who acts in righteousness is righteous,
just as he is righteous.
Whoever sins belongs to the Devil,
because the Devil has sinned from the beginning.
Indeed, the Son of God was revealed to destroy the works of the Devil.
No one who is begotten by God commits sin,
because God’s seed remains in him;
he cannot sin because he is begotten by God.
In this way,
the children of God and the children of the Devil are made plain;
no one who fails to act in righteousness belongs to God,
nor anyone who does not love his brother.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - John 1:35-42
From the Gospel according to John
John was standing with two of his disciples,
and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said,
“Behold, the Lamb of God.”
The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them,
“What are you looking for?”
They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher),
“where are you staying?”
He said to them, “Come, and you will see.”
So they went and saw where he was staying,
and they stayed with him that day.
It was about four in the afternoon.
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter,
was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus.
He first found his own brother Simon and told him,
“We have found the Messiah,” which is translated Christ.
Then he brought him to Jesus.
Jesus looked at him and said,
“You are Simon the son of John;
you will be called Cephas,” which is translated Peter.

MEMORIAL OF SAINT ELIZABETH ANN SETON - RELIGIOUS - Gospel (Jn 1:35-42)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
In today's Word of God, God wants to teach all humanity how to introduce the Son of God to those around us, just as Saint John the Baptist introduced Jesus to his disciples: "This is the true Lamb of God, the true Teacher that man must follow."
God came to earth to become a human being. He came to live among humanity and to be with mankind. He always lived close to mankind, especially with sinners, the weak, the lowly, and the poor people. He was always by their side and accompanied them.
Today's Word of God says that the disciples of Saint John followed the Holy Teacher Jesus, and stayed with Him to be enlightened, guided, and shown how He lived. Through that, the two disciples of Saint John the Baptist were transformed by God, and they were determined to give up everything to follow Him. It was Andrew who was one of the two.
Then, Andrew continued to introduce God to his brother Peter. It is through this image that God calls on His children who are following God, that when we know and believe that there is a God, we must also know how to share and introduce God to others, by learning how to love each other, knowing how to share all the good things with our fellow human beings.
God does not want His children to live selfishly, only caring for ourselves to enjoy peace, without caring for and sharing the joy and peace that God gives to our fellow human beings.
Today, God calls on all humanity to:
-Live with a love that unites us with our fellow human beings
-Understand how to share God's love and support others who are suffering.
-Know how to introduce God to others, because only God can bring us peace and happiness.
God does not want any sheep to fall into the sinful passions of this world. Therefore, God calls on all mankind to run to Him; especially those who have been given by God the faith of experiencing His love, must know to set out, reach out to our fellow human beings who do not know Him, to introduce God to them through our own lives of witness. Only then will God be pleased, and He will love and protect their souls from the captivity of Satan.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
