“Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Messiah.” (Mt 1:16)

FIRST READING - Gen 49:2, 8-10

"The scepter shall never depart from Judah."

A reading from the Book of Genesis

“Assemble and listen, sons of Jacob,

    listen to Israel, your father.

“You, Judah, shall your brothers praise

    —your hand on the neck of your enemies;

the sons of your father shall bow down to you.

Judah is a lion’s cub,

you have grown up on prey, my son.

He crouches, lies down like a lion,

like a lioness—who would dare rouse him?

10 The scepter shall never depart from Judah,

or the mace from between his feet,

Until tribute comes to him,[a]

and he receives the people’s obedience.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Mt 1:1-17

3rd WEDNESDAY OF ADVENT - Gospel (Matthew 1:1-17)

THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

Dear people of God,

Today's Word of God records the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came into the world to become man, to show all humanity that when every human being is born, there is always a lineage originating from God, always a lineage of human ancestry connecting continuously up to the present day.

God desires all humanity to know that the Son of God was born into the world as a human being so that humanity can inherit the happiness of experiencing God’s holy presence, participate in His divine life, and experience happiness when welcoming the Most High God born in the form of a human being.

That is the happiness that God bestows upon all humanity.

Today, God the Father desires humanity to welcome God’s love, who was born, humbled, and lowered Himself to become man to accompany and be with humanity.

There is no greater happiness than the Most High who humbly lowered Himself to dwell among humanity; not only was He a human among humankind, but God Himself was also born as an ordinary person like everyone else.

Moreover, He even dared to sacrifice

Himself, suffered death to bring life to all humanity.

That is the most noble, most sublime, and absolute love.

There is no love as great as this in the world!

Therefore, in preparation for the Savior to come into the world as a human being, to be with humanity, to suffer death and be resurrected to redeem humankind, God has prepared a long generation.

Through countless difficulties, hardships, and many ups and downs in the history of salvation. Only then did God fulfill His promise that the Son of God would be born as man to save humanity.

God the Father calls upon everyone in the world to have faith in the Son of God born as a human being, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, when the Blessed Mother Mary conceived the Son of God.

God desires humanity to believe that His love dwells with humanity is true; His love will encompass and protect all who run to God the Father, call upon the holy name of the Son of God, for they will be saved, and all will experience the sacred presence of God the Father when He calls people out of this world.

God the Father calls upon all humanity not to fall into Satan’s temptations and their dark traps.

Walk in the light of the Son of God who has come and lived with humanity for so many centuries.

Run to the light of the Word of God.

It is the light of God’s Word itself that will lead the human soul to experience the holy presence of God, the Most High.

God the Father calls upon humanity that in order to experience God’s holy presence and happiness in the Kingdom of Heaven, we must look up to the example of the love of the Most High God, for out of love for humanity, He was born into the world as man to be with humanity until the end of time.

Have absolute faith in the love of the Most High God, which is the love of the Son of God truly becoming man, becoming human like all people present in this world.

Therefore, today’s Word of God wants to let all humanity know about the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came to earth as man.

His genealogy also includes sinful people and imperfect people, but what is important is that God's love transforms evil into good; God’s love will bring what is in darkness out into the light.

Looking back at the ancestors of the Son of God who came to earth as a human being, there were sinful members, there were members who disobeyed God, but God's love has eliminated hatred, and God's love has dispelled darkness.

That is why God has cleansed sin and eliminated darkness, so that the plan for the Son of God to come to earth as a human being to save all humanity has been fulfilled to the present day, spread throughout this world, and continues in the period of the Holy Spirit's activity.

As He calls sinful people to collaborate in the plan of sanctifying all humanity, so that humanity may glorify how vast and profound the love and mercy of God the Father truly is.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
