FIRST READING - Ez 1:1-6
"Those among you who belong to any part of his people, let them go up to Jerusalem to build the house of the Lord the God of Israel."
A reading from the Book of Ezra
1 In the first year of Cyrus,[a] king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia to issue a proclamation throughout his entire kingdom, both by word of mouth and in writing: 2 “Thus says Cyrus, king of Persia: ‘All the kingdoms of the earth the Lord, the God of heaven,[b] has given to me, and he has charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. 3 Those among you who belong to any part of his people, may their God be with them! Let them go up to Jerusalem in Judah to build the house of the Lord the God of Israel, that is, the God who is in Jerusalem. 4 Let all those who have survived, in whatever place they may have lived, be assisted by the people of that place with silver, gold, goods, and livestock, together with voluntary offerings for the house of God in Jerusalem.’”
5 Then the heads of ancestral houses[c] of Judah and Benjamin and the priests and Levites—everyone, that is, whose spirit had been stirred up by God—prepared to go up to build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem. 6 All their neighbors gave them help in every way, with silver, gold, goods, livestock, and many precious gifts, besides all their voluntary offerings.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Lk 8:16-18
"He places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light."
✠From the Gospel according to Luke
16 “No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. 17 For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light. 18 Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.”

25TH MONDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Luke 8:16-18)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
The Word of God in today’s Gospel, God wants to tell everyone that His Word is the light that comes into the world and will shine upon all humanity.
Jesus gave a concrete example of human life: no one lights a lamp and then puts it under a bed; rather, one must place it on a lampstand so everyone can see the light. It is through this light that people can see clearly and do everything well according to God’s will.
God is compassionate and loving toward humanity. Therefore, He clearly and thoroughly shows humankind that His Word is the light that must shine for all humankind and is the path that leads to the eternal Kingdom of Heaven in the future.
Each person should receive the light that the Word of God teaches to live and put into practice, which is love, charity, generosity, forgiveness, humility, self-abasement, lowliness, and simplicity. God desires that when each person receives His grace and light, that grace and light must also shine forth and spread to others.
God also calls everyone to pay close attention to the way we listen to and put into practice His Word. Whoever knows how to listen to and put into practice according to His commandments will bear good fruit, which is peace and happiness; they will be filled with God's love and have eternal life.
Today’s Word of God calls everyone to:
Always listen to and meditate on the teachings of God's Word, and put them into practice in our daily life, so that His Word always dwells within our hearts.
Doing so will give us peace and happiness in God’s loving arms.
Live and put into practice according to the Word of God, which is the light that has come into the world, and we will become a shining example, helping everyone to look at that light, believe, and live according to God's Word, then they too may receive the grace of salvation.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
