FIRST READING - 1 Tim 3:14-16
"Undeniably great is the mystery of devotion."
A reading from the First Letter to Timothy
14 I am writing you about these matters, although I hope to visit you soon. 15 But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth. 16 Undeniably great is the mystery of devotion,
Who[a] was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed to the Gentiles, believed in throughout the world, taken up in glory.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Lk 7:31-35
"We played the flute for you, but you did not dance. We sang a dirge, but you did not weep."
✠From the Gospel according to Luke
31 [a]“Then to what shall I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? 32 They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another,
‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance. We sang a dirge, but you did not weep.’
33 For John the Baptist came neither eating food nor drinking wine, and you said, ‘He is possessed by a demon.’ 34 The Son of Man came eating and drinking and you said, ‘Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ 35 But wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”

24TH WEDNESDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Luke 7:31-35)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
The Word of God today, God the Father calls His children: to be united and to love one another, to worship and praise God the Father together; to unite in battle against Satan, for Satan always seeks to divide the children of God the Father.
In order to be united and love one another as God the Father calls, He desires that each person renounce their selfish ego and together worship God in both thought and action. By doing so, all will be kept away from the sins that Satan brings.
God the Father also calls His children to live in His wisdom, which is to have charity, love, humility, self-abasement, and simplicity, so that the Spirit of God may work within us. Otherwise, Satan will wreak havoc within our soul and body. They will control us according to their own guidance and lead us to evil actions, causing separation from the mercy of God the Father.
God the Father continues to call upon His children while living in this world, love and forgive without ceasing, renounce selfishness, and serve others as the Word of God the Father has commanded. God the Father desires that mankind worship Him alone as the one true God, love Him with all our souls and with all our mind, and love our brothers and sisters as ourselves.
The Word of God today, God the Father also speaks of His great prophet, Saint John the Baptist. God the Father sent him into the world to call all people to repentance, to abandon the path of sin, and to return to Him. Yet mankind, relying on human wisdom to justify itself, rejected and put Saint John to death.
For this reason, today once again God the Father calls His children to be watchful against the temptations of Satan; do not listen to their instigations; practice charity and love, and above all, remain united so that Satan will be defeated.
God the Father is not pleased when His children harbor hatred, envy, arrogance, and division. For these things will draw the souls of His children away from His loving, protective embrace and cause us to lose the happiness of Heaven, which God the Father has prepared for His children when we depart from this world.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
